Use-Case 1 Incorrect filter function on the website

On the company website, the family-managed nutritional supplements producer presents his product range and provides customers with information on the topics of "healthier living" and "healthy eating". Customers are also provided with a recipe overview on the website. 

What happened?
Users of the website can choose from various recipes and filter them as preferred. In Addition to "Difficulty of preparation", the numerous filter options also include "Nutrients", "Preparation time", "Application area" and of course "Diets": vegetarian, vegan and lactose-free. These filters are essential for many users. It turned out that the filter option "Nutrition" did not work correctly and recipes without the required filter conditions were listed on the 4th page of the recipe overview.

How could such a mistake happen?
With the large number of recipes and due to the fact that the error only came into effect on the back pages, it was no wonder that the customer overlooked this error. There can always be multiple causes for a website filter that is not working. These include a filter list that is not kept up to date, incorrect configuration settings, improperly programmed filter rules, or a poor network design. To prevent a website filter from failing to work correctly, it is advisable to regularly update the filter list, check the configuration settings and ensure that all filter rules are programmed correctly. It is also important that the network design is kept up to date to ensure effective filtering.

How difficult was the testing for the TESTIFY team?
In about one hour, including customer consultation, the TESTIFY team had written a test in Cypress.IO that was individually adapted to the customer. This could be implemented directly and had detected the error case after a few minutes. The test was used to verify the filters and prove a wrong configuration. Screenshot and video of the TESTIFY error documentation could be used directly by the development team for diagnosis and the problem could be solved.
